The oasis circle
A loop through the Western Desert oases — Bahariya, Farafra's White Desert, Dakhla and Kharga — where the journey is the distances and the nights under the stars. The fullest version is on the desert routes page.
These are our signature journeys: the multi-day arcs travellers ask us for again and again. Think of them as well-loved templates rather than fixed packages — each one is the starting shape, then designed around the people travelling, the season and the pace they want. We describe them fully below, with the kind of detail that lets you picture the days, because a signature journey is the most popular way travellers begin with us before we tailor it into something entirely their own.
Our most-requested journey is the classic south-bound arc, but slowed down and rethought. It opens with curated days in Cairo — Islamic Cairo on foot in the cool of the morning, the great museum seen with a specialist rather than at a march, a craftsman's workshop in the old city. Then south to Luxor, where the temples of the east and west banks are paced over several unhurried days rather than crammed into a frantic two, with the early starts that let you stand in Karnak before the crowds arrive. From Luxor the journey continues to Aswan, ideally along the Nile itself on a small vessel, with the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo as river stops rather than rushed coach halts. It closes in Aswan, the gentlest of Egyptian cities, with Philae, a felucca at sunset, and time simply to be still by the river.
That is the shape. What we then do is make it yours — more days here, a different rhythm there, a side route to somewhere most itineraries skip. The Nile leg is detailed on the Nile cruise page, and the rail alternative between Luxor and Aswan on the rail page.
Beyond the classic arc, these are the signature shapes we are asked for most. Each can stand alone or be woven into a longer journey.

For those drawn to the city itself, several curated days that go far beyond the museum and the pyramids into Coptic Cairo, the craftsmen's quarters and the everyday city. Built from the curated Cairo days.

For travellers with three weeks and real curiosity, a journey that combines Cairo, the Nile, Aswan and a desert leg into one long, beautifully paced whole — the fullest expression of what the atelier does.
You can take one almost as described, but even then we tailor the pace and the stays to you — and most travellers change something once we talk. The signatures are a starting point, not a locked package. The design conversation is on the how we work page.
Comfortably ten to fourteen days, though we have designed it as short as a week (faster than we like) and as long as three weeks (which we love). The right length depends on your pace; we will be honest about what gets lost if it is rushed.
The classic Cairo-to-Aswan arc, almost always — it holds the essential Egypt in one unhurried sweep. Tell us through the contact page and we will confirm whether it fits what you are picturing, or suggest a better-suited shape if your interests pull elsewhere — we would rather steer you right than simply sell the most popular option.
Tell us which, and we will start making it yours.
